Each time I use this book I am amazed by the wonderful, flavorful, complex taste the food I produce has. Mexico Margarita Carrillo Arronte. Buy this if you enjoy Indian food. So, I’ll admit that I haven’t tried that many recipes from this book yet.
Feb 14, RH Walters rated it it was amazing. I have been having a lot of fun with this on the weekends, making the spice mixes including one of the garam masalas and the roasted curry leaves mix.
I especially rraghavan it layered with the Corn and Tomato Medly pg and topped with mashed potatoes then baked like a shepard’s pie. I’m not sure if it has to do with the ease of finding recipes on the web or the fact that I’ve moved them so many times, but I have curtailed my cookbook-purchasing lately.

As another reviewer noted, they’re not at Safeway, so you have to go to an indian store to stock up on curry leaves, asafetida, and various kinds of lentils. This book yb virtually inexhaustible. Curry is vivid flavors, seasonal ingredients, a kaleidoscope of spices and unexpected combinations. Same with the bell pepper recipes. Cookbook and ingredients procured, I went home and made a dinner of curries.

I will say, though, that making the spice mixes it calls for can be a pain as they can’t really be made in the minimal quantities usually called for. Btw, if you use your coffee grinder to grind spices, be sure to clean it by grinding some salt or rice in between uses otherwise your java may take on some unexpected accents.
I added the red onions at this point. I LOVE the book. I’ve not made any of the egg or game curries, but all the chicken ones I’ve made have been excellent. I’m a HUGE fan of lentils and legumes and this book is no slouch.
