Thanks for your reply, I have already tried your suggestion by way of using the drivers installed by windows following an uninstall of the SD card reader. Microsoft is usually my last desperation choice for finding a driver. Windows not recognising integral SD Card Reader – Microsoft Community
The hard disk that I used had a new windows standard build and worked fine which has convinced me that it is a software issue. This site in other languages x. The only way I can get windows to recognise my SD card is to go into device manager and change the policy from Optimize for Quick Removal to Optimize for Performance. If your computer manufacturer’s website is of no help, the second-best choice would be to go to the website of the manufacturer of your card reader on your computer.
