Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations: Electro-optic modulator EOM is an optical device in which a signal-controlled element exhibiting the electro-optic effect is used to modulate a beam of light.
Hi Rajguru, Thank you for your help. A Pockels cell can thus be seen as a voltage-controlled waveplate, and it can be used for modulating the polarization state.
Express 26 The phase of a carrier signal is modulated to follow the changing voltage level amplitude of modulation signal. I want to know about Mach Zehnder Modulator and Mach-Zehnder interferometer and what is the basic difference between between using these two.
I came across some very important points. Also i aehnder to ask about mach-zehnder modulators used opitcal optisystem.
Thanks for your efforts Regards. The analysis and the final result modulated signal are similar to those of frequency modulation.
Hi Nagesh, You are welcome any time… Hope your query gets resolved…. It means a lot. For misaligned beams, there will be some fringe patterns in both outputs, and variations of the path length difference affect mainly the shapes of these interference patterns, whereas the distribution of total powers on the outputs may not change very much.
The distribution of optical powers between the two outputs depends on the precise difference in optical arm lengths and on the wavelength, the path length difference can be adjusted so that for a particular optical frequency the total power goes into one of the outputs.
The interferometer is used as beam splitters to split and recombine the beams, and has two outputs.
Note that the electric field can be created by placing a parallel plate capacitor across the crystal. A Mach-Zehnder modulator is used for controlling the amplitude of an optical wave. April 16, at 4: The input waveguide is split up into two waveguide interferometer arms.
Hi Nagesh, I agree with Rajguru. Liquid crystal devices are electro-optical phase modulators if no polarizers are used. The beams are then recombined. As far as i know i have used mach-zehnder modulator as a modulator.
I think the link provided by Rajguru was very helpful. Try the link below… http: I went through the link it was a bit helpful although i macb looking for something else.
Community Forums – Difference between Mach-Zehnder Modulator and Mach- Zehnder interferometer
Can you moduoator me which one is more advantageous and also can you give me some information on what and where should I use lithium Niobate Mach-Zehnder modulator. Hi All, I Thank you all for the help.
I hope it is helpful. I agree with the forum members on this particularly Rajguru about the fact that Mach-Zehnder modulator is used to control the amplitude of an optical wave which is given to it whereas interferometer is used as beam splitters to split and recombine the beams. But here i want to ask about mach-zehnder modulators used in optisystem.
